Best Practice
Intended to examine best practice themes in urban regeneration and design that will provide direct comparisons with Gloucester and assist in the delivery of our vision for a Gloucester Renaissance as set out in the Regeneration Framework.
Best Practice Programme:
Friday 25th June 2010
Destination:
Heart of Reeds, Lewes and London Wetlands Centre
Learning Objectives
- provide inspiration and insight into the delivery and management of ecological park / attractions.
There are two parts to this study visit:
- the Heart of Reeds Project in Lewes is part of an open park next to the town, run in partnership between the local authority and wildlife trust; The location, role, scale and artistic element of the Lewes example are
particularly relevant to the GHURC vision.
- the WWT’s London Wetlands Centre at Barnes, (a guided tour of the highlights of this 102 acre nature reserve). A recent regeneration project where habitat was introduced at former reservoir sites to form a stand-alone attraction - it is run by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.
