As the event is being run the week after the Government’s emergency budget, the expert panel, chaired by Editor-in-chief of Gloucestershire Media, Ian Mean, expect to be questioned on how the policies of the new coalition Government will affect local business and how county’s economy should respond, but will answer any business questions put forward by the audience.
The panel consists of Senior Tax partner at Grant Thornton, Mike Warbuton, leading tax spokesman and regular guest on BBC’s Today Programme, Chris Oldershaw, Chief Executive of the Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company who is successfully spearheading the city’s regeneration, Ian Mellor of Barton Willmore, the UK’s largest independent planning consultancy and Nick Millard, Chairman of the partners at Bruton Knowles with a background in Asset Management, policy research and Government and institutional engagement.
Nick said: “It’s only business which has the capacity to bring the UK out of recession and with a new budget set to tackle the UK’s record deficit, we will examine what steps local businesses must take to emerge successfully.”
The event, free to business leaders across the region, is being supported by all the county’s leading business support organisations, including Business Link, the Federation of Small Business, Gloucestershire First and Marketing Gloucester.
Chris Oldershaw added: “The support of such high-profile organisations for this Bruton Knowles event shows how determined the county is to ensure it is at the vanguard of the UK’s recovery.”
The event will focus on the big issues facing managing and finance directors and there will be opportunities to discuss and share views with other business leaders after the Question Time session.
