Gloucestershire Parkway

Overview

Elmbridge Transport

Scheme comprises a 1,000 space Park and Ride site, improvements to Elmbridge Court Roundabout, a new Link Road between the B4063 and the A40 to the East of Elmbridge Court, and bus priority on sections of the B4063 / A40 linking Gloucester and Cheltenham.  A bid for Major Scheme Funding was submitted to the Department for Transport by Gloucestershire County Council in March 2010.  Consideration of the bid was put on hold pending the General Election and the subsequent Comprehensive Spending Review.  In November 2010, DfT announced that Elmbridge Transport had been included in the Pre-qualification Pool for the new Major Scheme Funding process.  The County Council submitted an Expression of Interest to DfT on 4th January 2011, formally requesting that the scheme be included in the next stage of the funding process.  A DfT decision is expected in February 2011.

Progress Report

Gloucestershire Parkway

The proposal for a new railway station at Elmbridge has been put on hold due to a lack of a project sponsor.  Network Rail’s Route Utilisation Strategy for the Great Western area does not include any station proposals for Gloucestershire.  The next opportunity for consideration of new stations in the County is likely to be the renewal of the Great Western franchise, currently programmed for 2013/14.
