Other Opportunities

Gloucester Heritage URC occasionally has opportunities for members of the public or the professions to act in a voluntary capacity serving on either the Business, Residents & Community or Urban Youth forums.

The Waterways Trust is appealing for volunteers to help with the day-to-day operation of the Museum at Gloucester, particularly for front of house staff but also for help with administration, education and site services.

If you can spare some time to help the Museum play a vital role in bringing back vitality to the docks area, please contact Doreen Davies at the Museum on 01452 318201 or email gloucester@thewaterwaystrust.org.uk. There are opportunities in the following areas:

  • Front of House, including museum admissions, retail sales, boat tickets and stock taking.
  • Administration, including telephone enquiries, bookings for group visits and boat trips using computerised booking system.
  • Marketing, including design and preparation of marketing materials and telesales to coach companies.
  • Passenger Boats, including cleaning & painting, crew work, bar and catering.
  • Education, including delivering workshops to schools and taking and/or sending information to schools.
  • Craft Demonstrations for visitors and pre-booked schools.
  • Events, helping to create and organise events.
  • Site Services, including checks on the working of display equipment and minor maintenance as required.

New volunteers are wanted at St Michael's Tower

The building will become the home of Gloucester Civic Trust and ‘A tower of learning’ – a place where the community and visitors can learn about Gloucester’s rich past, while recording today’s history for future generations to enjoy.
