Greyfriars
Modern city centre living
Greyfriars provides the opportunity for an exemplar housing-led scheme in the heart of the city centre. The former Gloscat sites are being developed by Linden Homes and will become an attractive city centre residential neighbourhood, providing up-to 400 new homes and apartments in a mix of styles and sizes. It will be an exemplar of modern city centre living, complete with easy access to shops, community services and employment opportunities.
Public spaces located around the ruins of Greyfriars Priory and other nearby historic buildings will provide shoppers, tourists and residents alike with a restful haven in the centre of the city.
The majority of this 2.4 hectare city centre site is currently occupied by the former Gloucestershire College of Arts and Technology buildings which fronts onto Brunswick Road.

Former Gloscat site and former Media Studies Centre
The Gloucester City Council Planning Committee resolved to grant planning consent for a residential development of the two sites at its meeting on the 1st November 2011. The decision was subject to conditions being fulfilled, and the completion of a Section 106 Agreement. It is anticipated that this will be signed off at the end of March with a start to building works in June 2012.
A community Archaeology ‘Dig’ started on the 2nd March on the site of the proposed Square adjoining the remains of the Greyfriars Priory. The project has been facilitated by the Gloucester City Centre Partnership in collaboration with Cotswold Archaeology.
The tower block of the former college was demolished in October 2011. Further demolition works are anticipated to commence after Easter 2012.
