When was the Gloucester Heritage URC set up?
The Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company was sanctioned by Central Government in February 2004 in recognition at both regional and national level of the need to regenerate central Gloucester. For more information visit the About Us section.
What are the aims and objectives of the Gloucester Heritage URC?
The purpose of the Gloucester Heritage URC is to bring life back to the many historic areas of Gloucester, and to create a new and prosperous city for the 21st Century. Amongst its specific targets are the reclamation and development of 100 acres of brownfield land, the repair and reuse of nearly 100 historic buildings, building 3000 new homes, creating 2000 new jobs and attracting £1 billion of private sector investment.
How long will the Gloucester Heritage URC remain in being?
At the time of its inception in February 2004, the Gloucester Heritage URC had a 10 year regeneration mission.
How much money is the Gloucester Heritage URC looking to raise and where will these funds come from?
The Gloucester Heritage URC is a highly focused partnership organisation funded by The South West of England Regional Development Agency, English Partnerships, Gloucestershire County Council and Gloucester City Council. The GHURC aims to attract £1 billion of private sector investment to Gloucester in the next 10 years. Almost £200 million of investment has already been attracted and the proposed £200 million Gloucester Quays project has recently been named as one of the UKs top 30 most valuable regeneration developments.

Are meetings of the Gloucester Heritage URC open to the general public?
The Gloucester Heritage URC periodically organises public meetings, roadshows and other events, details of which will appear on this website and in the local press. Whilst formal meetings, including board meetings, are not open to the general public, the GHURC has established a good reputation for clear and open communications. You can also keep up to date by downloading a copy of the latest edition of Network News, the stakeholder newsletter of the Gloucester Heritage URC. I′ve heard about the ‘Magnificent Seven’ - what are they?
The ‘Magnificent Seven’ are the GHURCs set of major redevelopment sites that will drive forward the regeneration of Gloucester and create the ‘step change’ required to transform the fortunes of this great English city. The 'Magnificent Seven’ are Blackfriars, Gloucester Docks, Canal Corridor, Gloucester Quays, Kings Quarter, Greyfriars and Railway Triangle. In addition, the proposed Gloucestershire Parkway railway station is a Gloucestershire County Council scheme.
